Terms
Terms of Use
This page covers three separate things: what this website is, what actually governs an engagement with Etiology, and the terms for the internal software Etiology runs to keep its own books. Short, because none of it is complicated, and specific, because a term you cannot check is not a term.

Who we are
A records-review firm, not a law firm.
Etiology LLC is a Louisiana records-review firm based in Metairie. It reviews medical records and billing for insurance claims payers and classifies each charge against the record. It renders no valuation, no settlement recommendation, and no opinion on standard of care. It provides no legal, medical, or claims-adjusting advice, and nothing on this site should be read as any of those.
This website
Information, not an offer.
This site describes what Etiology does and publishes figures from completed engagements. Reading it creates no engagement, no retainer, and no obligation on either side. Emailing us does not create one either. An engagement begins only when there is a signed contract, and not before.
The published figures are derived from completed engagements and carry no claimant names, no matter names, and nothing that identifies a patient. They are what they say they are, and each is traceable to a measurement rather than an estimate.
Engagements
The contract governs, not this page.
Every engagement runs on a written contract between Etiology and the client, and that contract controls scope, fees, confidentiality, and everything else about the work. Where anything on this page differs from a signed engagement contract, the contract wins. Nothing here amends, limits, or adds to it.
Software
The tools Etiology runs are internal and not distributed.
Etiology builds and runs software for its own operations: reviewing records, keeping its books, and connecting its accounting to the services it already pays for. These tools are used by Etiology alone. They are not sold, licensed, distributed, resold, or made available to any third party, and no one outside the firm installs or operates them. There is no other user to grant rights to.
Where such a tool connects to a third-party service on Etiology's behalf, it acts only for Etiology, using credentials Etiology holds, against Etiology's own account with that service. It moves the firm's own business records: invoices, expenses, vendors, and accounting categories. It does not carry medical records, patient information, or any client's confidential material into any accounting or third-party system, and the firm's books identify matters by payer and matter number rather than by any person's name.
Use of those third-party services is additionally governed by Etiology's agreements with each provider, and this page does not modify them.
No warranty
What this site does not promise.
This website is provided as it is. We keep it accurate and correct it when it is wrong, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose, and we are not liable for a decision made on the strength of a web page. Work product delivered under an engagement is a different matter entirely, and the standards it is held to are written into that engagement's contract.
Changes
Updates to these terms.
We may update this page as the business changes. The current version, with its date, is always the one posted here. Where a signed engagement contract says something more specific, that agreement controls for that engagement.
